Connecticut celebrates the 42nd ANNUAL EARTH DAY (April 22) by embracing Mother Earth and showcasing the importance of preserving and protecting our planet.

1. Saturday 21/Sunday 22: the Party for the Planet at the Connecticut Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, featuring earth-friendly festivities and activities, environment-friendly vendors and live music.
2. Saturday 21: A Celebration of Birds at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center in Mystic; guided bird walk, birds of prey demonstration and a binocular “try-it” station.
3. Friday 20/Saturday 21: Earth Days at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center in Mashantucket; create unique crafts with recycled material, the way Native peoples transformed natural resources into useful objects.
4. Saturday 21: Pratt Nature Center, New Milford celebration. Explore the environment, by day and night, learn how to take responsibility for the future of the planet.
5. Saturday 21: “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” themed Woodbury Earth Day celebration. Included are exhibits, interactive activities and organizations dedicated to living green.
6. Sunday 22: Earth Day Celebration at the Mystic Aquarium; creative hands-on activities, games, scavenger hunts and crafts demonstrating how to reduce our carbon footprint.
7. Saturday 21: “Return of the Osprey" Party, Milford; the Osprey pair returns to the Connecticut Audubon Society Coastal Center. Open to the public from 5.30 pm. Enjoy live music, eats, beverages, raffles and a silent auction. Get a sneak-peek of the new osprey camera that goes live on Monday.
8. Saturday21: Opening Day for Trout Fishing. 101 lakes and ponds, 200 rivers and streams throughout Connecticut are open. Approximately 400,000 trout have been released by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to restock the designated Trout Parks: Rock Pond (Watertown), Chatfield Hollow State Park (Killingworth), Southford Falls State Park (Oxford), Stratton Brook State Park (Simsbury), Wharton Brook State Park (Wallingford), and Wolfe Park (Monroe). www.ctvisit.com/this-weekend
9. Saturday 21:National Park Week, Weir Farm National Historic Site, Wilton. Programs and activities for adults, families and children. Junior Ranger Day is Saturday, April 21, "History Meets Natural History" walk with Mitch Wagener Sunday, 22.

3.Saturday 21:Connecticut Ballet's 30th Anniversary Gala Celebration Connecticut Ballet finales its 30th anniversary season with a single gala performance of repertory highlights. Featuring a world premiere, and special guests Ashley Bouder of New York City Ballet and Yonah Acosta, Cuban-born virtuoso from English National Ballet, who will perform the famous pas de deux from “Le Corsaire." An after benefit party “Razzle, Dazzle Sizzle,” will headline the Glamour Girls.
4.Saturday 21: John Prine with special guest Josh Ritter John Prine is a leading performer and songwriter, recently honored at the Library of Congress by US Poet Laureate Ted Kooser.
